Uta Barth

Uta Barth is a photographer. She does lots of different things with her work but I have decided to look at the work she does with out of focus shots. This is one of her photographs. The main focus of this is the car headlights. This photograph is very simplified with the colours and the composition but I think that this is a very successful photograph and cant wait to take my own photographs taking influence from Uta Barth.

More bokeh and lights

Bokeh

I took these pics for my A level photography. The topic is all about challenging convention and within that I thought I would look at the technique that is bokeh. Bokeh is simply taking out of focus pics of lights. These are pics of fairy lights. Making the camera out of focus gave me the simple shapes of the lights, these shapes show the colour more vividly. I hope you like, please share and comment back.

Thanks

College work!

First Stage

Not that good of quality of photograph but this is my first stage of recreating a Jim Dine image. I took a stencil of a big paint brush, I then created a background with the material, graphite, pencil, and paint. The background starts to bring out the shape of the paintbrush.

Second stage

This is when I started to put more detail in the paintbrush itself. I found this very hard as the photograph I was working from was very small and the big photograph didn't show a lot of detail.

Third stage

I started drawing the bristles of the brush, this proved very difficult as there was so much detail within that part.

Final piece

This is my final piece, even though it looks unfinished I have done that deliberately as that is what features in Jim Dines own image. Hope you like it.
